After having a custom media room built into their new home these clients decided to improve the sound of the room as the hard concrete walls didn’t have the good acoustic qualities they were after. In order to know what would best treat this particular room we brought in temporary panels that could be moved around for testing. After narrowing down the needs of the room the next thing to do was to decide on the aesthetics of the final product. The design ended up following the look of the already purchased commercial diffusers used in the ceiling of the room. Four broad band absorption panels were used on the front and side walls to treat first reflection points. As well, two corner mounted bass traps were used to help tame the low frequency energy of the multiple subwoofers in the room. In the end the performance of the high end speakers, exceptional electronics, and proper acoustic treatment made for a thrilling performance.
